My opinion:
"Pillars of the Earth" is reportedly the most famous novel by Ken Follett. I must admit that I stumbled on it before reviewing the recommendations of lubimyczytac.pl Encouraged by good advice I decided to read this reading in the near future, but when it finally fell into my hands, it scared me a little thick tomiszcze. Of them appeared in my eyes it is a long, laborious and clumsy reading. And what about? The construction of a medieval cathedral in a small English town of Kingsbridge. Biadoląc and sighing as she began reading ... and after a few dozen pages I could not get out of admiration for the magnificence of this book.

"Pillars of the Earth" is a historical novel whose action takes place in medieval England. I am not able to bring her story in a few sentences. It's like I wanted in a few sentences present someone's life. And that's what the book, about the life and work, ups and downs a dozen people for almost 40 years. Turning over the cards in a novel I could learn, inter alia, Abbot Philip, entrepreneurial and resourceful monk, Tom the Builder - a powerful man, whose life goal and dream was to build a magnificent cathedral, Jack - a young man płomiennorudych haired, endowed with extraordinary intelligence, alien, the persistence and commitment to chosen by them to be worthy of emulation. In the book, of course, came across well on the villains that his behavior aroused in me a real aversion. And so Waleran Bigot wanted above all power and tried to get it to everyone, even the most vile and despicable manner, and William Hamleigh was ruthless and vengeful knight who treat others with superiority and cruelty.

Heroes is a huge plus of this novel. They are extremely polished, the living and the dye. Opportunity follow their lives and adventures, for such a long period contained in the book, meant that I could grow with them as well as age. Enjoy along with them when they were successful or grieve at the moments when bear failure. They became very close to me ... or the contrary - he lit a real antipathy to the villains.

regard to the language which is written in the book, it is beautiful and rich, but sometimes imbued with expertise in construction terminology and descriptions of the subsequent stages of construction of the temple. I was afraid that these elements of the story bored me after a while, and discourage reading, but nothing happened. The author describes it all so accessible, understandable and nietresujący way that the mind's eye I saw the cathedral in Kingsbridge climbing to the top, gaining more and more beautiful shape, and the remaining elements of the building get to their seats.

dialogues contained in the book are coherent and routed very well, and the action is sped forward, is slowing down, giving a breathing space. Sometimes, however, my interest in the plot at times exhibited a serious attempt by a lengthy discussion of the main characters, sometimes extending over several pages. However, these dłużyzny get lost in the overall estimated content.

I must admit that Mr. Follett novel, fully deserving of such good grades. It is really beautiful, touching and interesting story with a historical theme in the background. On the egg cards love, friendship and the desire to create something beautiful intertwined with cruelty, hatred and absolute intrygami.Gorąco recommend read this heading. It is really worth.

My Rating: 6 / 6
