My opinion:
Firstly - I love books in which the heroines are witches, witches, magiczki, Sorceress - Women parające magic. Both the good and bad. Second - some time ago I decided to get acquainted with the indigenous fantasy. One and two is three, and three means of reaching out, "Tales from the Wilżyńskiej Valley "by Anna Brzezinska. There has not read a single book Top of the author, so it's time to catch up.

The" Wilżyńskiej Tales from the Valley "falls nine stories plus a short" Epilogue. "All the stories connected with each character Grandma Jagoda, witches who inhabit the valley, quite a few good generations. The book I received as a whole, so more and more stories - Like loosely connected chapters, through which the scrolling is different heroes.
As it always happens with a collection of stories, some articles are really great, others a little bit weaker. For me, these are weaker at the beginning of the book (which is odd, because Mrs. Brzezinska the opening story, "And he loved her, that fear," was awarded the Polish fandom. Janusz A. Zajdel), but the farther the better, and I with each party increasingly displeased with Wilżyńska Valley and at the very end it settle in for good. The stories that I liked most is "The Witch's Cat" (what else) and "Rat and Miss". The first talks about how nasty, dangerous, but is the true essence of the beast, and the second deals with the life of luck and wishes that do not always meet up like we wanted.
As far as the Grandma Jagódka - sharp and dangerous of the witch, but the heart is the right place. One shows up in the form of decrepit old woman, in a moment transformed into a beautiful and slender wench with a storm of black hair, lips and cups karminowymi G, with a small circumference. Her character reminds me of Granny Weatherwax combination of features * (proud, powerful, calm and cynical, always right), and Nanny Ogg * (first of booze, dirty, most of the time spent in a horizontal position, spółkując will, Witches and the women's cat Greebo version). To be frank, I really such a combination like that.
In this book you will find a lot of humor, irony, grotesque, but scrolling through, the card also matters serious and sad. Included in individual stories, the stories can captivate and fit in a reverie, however, have endless fun accents. From time to time I've shed a few tears, a moment to burst out laughing at all.
The only downside might not, because it can be seen as the great value of the book is language - the archaic, until it hurts. Stylized speeches are not only heroes, but also the entire narrative. To be frank, that shit took me at the beginning and nothing in the world could not bite into the text books. I caught up sometimes that I read certain passages again, thinking "but what is it?". For example, this word "zabradziażywszy. This is just one of those gems ... not to mention the "boom" "Com," "Toast," "ye", "after all", "ajuści. But after some time, I say to you that I got used and accustomed to that. I must admit that Ms. Brzezinski had put in a lot of work, and people who like a colorful and archaic language, will be taken up at the sky.
This was my first encounter with the work of Mrs. Brzezinska, the meeting very successful. I can safely say that the reach for both for a second book describing the adventures of Grandma Jagoda, as well as other books by that author. In the "Tales of the Valley Wilżyńskiej" There is such a homely atmosphere which, together with the stories contained in them, makes reading this book is a pleasure (as I have to tame a simple man ino with these bizarre and sometimes nieodgadnionymi words). I highly recommend it.
My Rating: 5 / 6
* for the uninitiated - Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg the witches of Discworld Terry Pratchett ;-)
