My opinion and experience:
"Lies of Locke Lamory," Scott Lynch's debut novel, which opens a series of "shamefully Chivalry", could be seen on my list of items to read very, very long . I approached this book was rather skeptical, and something of apprehension. This is not a typical position of fantasy, where magic reigns, and the sword (which is what I love most), so I had little fear that this book will fall to my liking. In the end I decided to buy it and read, with great hope that this proves a waste of money and time.

In his novel, Scott Lynch takes us to Comorry, the city of Venice-like in appearance, consisting of a hopper and feeds. In this city famous thorn prowl Comorry "invincible swordsman, thief of thieves, the spirit that permeates the walls. Half the town believes he is a legendary hero and defender of the poor, the other half believes that the stories about him is a myth for fools." Who are right? "Apparently they both wrong. Anyway, at the very beginning my suspect that Mr. Lamora Locke with Thorns is that while young thief steal for much, and being already adult steals in true brilliant and sophisticated. I could say that it is indeed an artist in his profession. Danny Ocean and his Eleven is far behind, and to Henry and Johnny Hooker Gondorffa and their scam with "stings" a little lacking.

At first I could not "read" in this book. I am not able to say what I did not fit in it. Is quiet at the beginning of the rate at which the action was fought? Do the same introduction presented by the author's entourage and familiarizing yourself with the main characters? Can interspersed between each chapter (and in some chapters, taking place in the present tense) flashbacks? Anyway, after I gave myself a few dozen pages "on approval" with the style of the author and I could not even break away from the book. plot of the novel is really addictive, guaranteed great feast readership. Action from the beginning is not too thrilling, but after a few dozen pages starting "to happen," it "happens" on the whole.

mentioned before I can start flashbacks were a little annoying and distracted attention from the main thread, but after a while they started to add charm and that "something" entirely and I am glad much that the author decided to make such treatment. Very skillfully wove them into the contents of the book, calling interludes and making them chapters that alternate with chapters dziejącymi in real time. Thanks to them we know the past nefarious Gentlemen, why act as they do, which way they went through, to become such people they are. Moreover, one can find interesting information about the Comorry, its history and meet some interesting anecdotes.
Another powerful and well-polished feature "Lies ..." characters are. Locke Lamora has become one of my favorite literary characters. Really charming talented and versatile genius of the cheater. His person arouses sympathy and admiration, and a follow-up actions with real curiosity. I do not know how he took the idea of \u200b\u200b various scams, fantasy, he really does not lack. Other characters were also very well presented, have different characters, different from each other disposition, temperament, demeanor, and most importantly, do not seem to be artificial constructions.

The dialogues are another plus of this novel. They are well led, witty, sometimes there is a one or two bad language, but it does not cause disgust. Lynch's writing style is pleasant in reception, very good reading. This is another writer who has made my head while reading it was full of images and scenes contained in the pages of this book.

story book is excellent and full of intrigue. Lynch was for her great idea, and the performance came to him even better. The story told in the book contains the elements of fantasy, thriller and adventure novel. It's a great mix, which is many times very pleasantly surprised me with unexpected twists. Sometimes Locke falls into this mess and awkward situations, finding almost impossible to dispel. Does he managed to get out of the oppression? Alone must be convinced of this. I admit frankly that I sometimes I even biting nails nervously and uncertainties.

also deserves a world created by Lynch, which is elaborated in great detail. Has its own history, different countries, a pantheon of deities, and Comorra very unique, with different layers and social hierarchies. The book presents the best issues of the underworld of thieves and above all its operations. Everyone has his place. Pezon subject garrista , the leader of a gang turn garrista abide by the CAPI, which controls all the gang. I loved the way the author of it all showed up.

As for downsides, apart from the beginning I said book, more of these elements are not spotted. Maybe they do not see , being completely enchanted by this book. I do not know. For me, this position is great in every respect, and so.

"Lies of Locke Lamory" in my private ranking in ranked among the best books to read. It's a great, funny book, with a very good, compelling story, intrigues and puzzles, and uncommon heroes . Really worth to read it and I think everyone will find something for themselves. I would love to reach for the second part, and I hope that it will be equally good.

"- steal just because my poor family needs the money for life!
Locke Lamora made his speech with a highly raised a glass of wine (...)
- Liar! - Shouted in unison.
-steal only because this wicked world will not allow me to work and lead an honest life! - Calo shouted, raising his glass.
- Liar!
- steal just because I have to keep my poor. lazy twin brother, whose indolence broke my mother's heart! - Galdo Calo nudged his elbow, shouting these words.
- Liar!
- steal just because ... - Jean began - at the moment I fell into bad company.
- Liar!
last part of the ritual was one of the dot. The boy raised his glass slightly trembling hand and shouted:
- steal just because it's fun as hell!
- Bastard! "
My Rating: 6 / 6
